Strategic Planning and Member Survey – August 2021
Greetings LAB members,
We hope everyone is well considering the ongoing presence of COVID in our personal and professional lives.
Due to COVID, LAB has been on inactive status in July 2020. LAB’s Executive Board, 2019/2020, met virtually in early August to discuss the future of the organization.
In lieu of reactivating the organization at this time, the Board proposes a period of strategic planning this fall that would include a membership survey. This would be followed by an official re-activation, virtually or in person, in the spring 2022. The organization would then begin a new cycle with a call for nominations for all Board positions, hold an election and install a new Executive Board according to the bylaws. A call for membership renewals would be made in late 2022 and the dues paid would cover membership for the 2023 calendar year.
To support this proposal, the current Board is willing to serve during this planning and re-activation period. However, we would like to call for nominations for all board positions to serve the remainder of the 2021-2022 term. [Note: The Vice-President position remains open.] Please submit nominations to any board member by August 31, 2021. An election will be conducted via email in September.
If you are interested in serving on LAB’s Executive Board, volunteering during the planning and reactivation period or have suggestions, please be in contact.
Respectively,
LAB‘s Executive Board, 2019/2020
Inactive Status – July 2020
July 31, 2020
Greetings LAB Members,
We hope you are all well and safely adjusting to the changes COVID-19 has brought to our libraries and personal lives.
These times have been a challenge for LAB as well. Our theater night in February was cancelled; the spring service project was never scheduled, and our banquet, usually held in August, will not take place this year. Because of the impact of COVID-19 and the uncertain future, the Executive Board has agreed to temporarily place LAB on “inactive” status. As soon as it is feasibly safe to resume our group’s events, we will return to “active” status and notify the membership.
On a business note, the Board has approved a change to our bylaws that will align LAB’s fiscal and membership years. Formerly, the fiscal year ran from July 1 through June 30 and membership used a calendar year from January 1 – December 31. Now both will use a calendar year. A call for membership renewals will be made in late 2020 by our Membership chair, Ashely Huser, and the dues paid will cover membership for the 2021 calendar year.
If you are interested in becoming a member of LAB’s Executive Board, volunteering for events or have suggestions, please be in contact with a board member.
Stay safe. Stay well.
LAB’s Executive Board, 2019/2020
